John Lewis - we all knew it was good. Now Which? have proved it
John Lewis is one of the best known high street shops in the UK. We all knew John Lewis was good, but now Which? have confirmed
how good it is. In a survey which was released in May 2010, John Lewis came top - or very near the top - of many of the categories
which it was entered into.
The categories were split in types of product, so you would have one category for "electrical stores" and another one for "clothing & footwear", etc. Within
each category the shops were given a rating for price, product quality, service, experience, shop experience. The ratings then gave a total score for
that category.
Categories where John Lewis featured highly
Electrical Stores
John Lewis came joint first with a score of 78% in the electrical stores department, and had a 5 star rating for product quality, service and shop
experience.
Clothing and Footwear
Once again John Lewis came joint first in the clothing and footwear category, with a 5 start rating for product quality, service and store experience. The overall
rating was 73%.
Toiletries and Cosmetics
John Lewis was the overall winner in this category, with a rating of 78%. As with the previous categories, product quality, service and store experience all
received the top star rating.
Sport and Leisure
Once again, John Lewis was the winner in the sport and leisure category, with a score of 70%. Product quality, service and store experience all got the top score rating.
Home and Garden
2nd place this time. John Lewis was narrowly pipped to the post by Lakeland, which beat John Lewis by 1%. Receiving an overall score of 77%,
with Product quality, service and store experience all getting top marks.
Toys and Games
Again, a 1st place spot for John Lewis, with an overall score of 76%. As with all the previous categories, product quality, service
and store experience all got the top score rating.
Baby and Toddler
The last category now, and again John Lewis came in 1st place. And what a surprise, product quality, service
and store experience all came out with the top ratings.
So where did John Lewis not win then
The only category where John Lewis didn't come in the top results was for "home entertainment". Although, I'm assuming this
is mainly to do with John Lewis not really being in this market sector, rather than any horrible customer experiences.
